A Leprechaun’s Home on a Rainbow
Lucky doesn’t begin to describe it.
What’s up, friends?
It’s a well-known fact that leprechauns live inside rainbows so they’re close to their pots of gold (at the end of said rainbow).
And, luckily, the inside of this home has the color and wonder of a rainbow’s interior.
The true luck of this home is that there's no HOA to dim its vibrant shine.
Built in 1948, this 4-bedroom, 3-bath property has the comfort of a cabin and the robustness of an artist’s dream.
To some people, this home may appear like a 4-year-old was let loose with a box of crayons. But if you really look closely, it actually looks like a savant 4-year-old was let loose with a box of crayons.
Jokes aside, this consistent line-work throughout the home is very trippy. At the same time, it’s very whimsical and inviting with its bountiful use of color. When you contrast the dark wood around the designs, it’s like the wood is framing the art.
Also, that fake-but-on-theme fireplace is a great detail.
Huge utensils line the ceiling of this, honestly, nice looking kitchen. It combines the wood with a rustic metal and the perfect touch of the wonky artistry of the home.
I’ve never thought of Atlanta as a coastal town, but, sure, put an “OYSTERS” sign above the fridge.
The home’s art style does not work for me in the dining room. Yes, the lettering fits in the squiggles, but the labeling of the meals feels really tacky. I maybe get hanging artwork with that signage… but having it permanently on the wall?
Did you forget what meals you eat in the room designated to eat in? Its jarring nature comes off as the wacky children menu against a more put-together theme.
On the other hand, the bar gives an esquite all-around vibe.
It feels cozy. It feels fun. And the walls are stimulating to help you focus on work or good conversation.
Above the library nook up…
…is a unique rooftop bedroom space! The angled windows align with the home’s oddities while the wood roof keeps the vibe grounded.
Other bedrooms have a similar aesthetic, though, they’re on the ground floor. They have huge windows for natural lighting, corrugated metal against wood, and a few pops of color.
And the spaces in between also carry that same energy.
Is that big space a sunroom? A partially-outdoor living/entertaining space? I’m not sure -and I don’t want one- but I see what it’s going for. It’s just a bit too “barn” for me.
With all honesty, I don’t understand what I’m looking at. But it does look like a fairy habitat mixed with a grounded treehouse. I love the stonework (e.g. ground, oven, archway), flow of the space, and the hints of even more artwork outdoors.
And as the sun goes down, this place gets even cozier…
Coming from inside, there's a nice warm (and colorful) glow that covers the magical outdoor space. All of the lights, foliage, and artsy pieces create a private forest fort where you can watch the stars come out.
Real talk for a second: As wacky as this home is, it’s clear that a lot of time and care was put into this home. Is it everyone’s cup of tea? Absolutely not. But I give it props for not trying to flaunt wealth for the sake of opulence (and conformity).
Regardless… Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! I hope you have the luckiest day ever.
