Ahoy there, forever home šŸ“ā€ā˜ ļø

By ā€œforeverā€ I mean ā€œneverā€

What’s up, friends?

Today’s home will have you saying ā€œAhoy, matey!ā€ in no time! That is because, well, it’s an entire pirate ship.

What came first: the ship or the bones of a home? I’m not sure -but I am sure that this place was destined to be where it is. Why is that? Well, this nautical home is located in Idaho… in a town called Salmon. Yes, like the fish.

Built in 1970, this 2-bed, 3-bath, and (only) 1.2k sqft property costs $799,000. The listing boats about its ā€œprojector room,ā€ ā€œtriple head shower,ā€ and that it’s a ā€œthree-story waterfront retreatā€ wrapped together… but you would never know that, judging from the measly 26 photos I could find of this home. Plus, none of those genuinely interesting features are photographed. Not even the staircase that gets you from floor to floor.

So are those features real? Is this property even real? Let’s determine that for ourselves.

Inside, we’re greeted with a beautiful living room with candles on a chandelier, huge ship windows, miniature ships on the wall, and good vibes all around.

When we gaze around the home, those nautical details can be found everywhere: carved wooden railings, a perched faux parrot, a retired steering wheel, and wall-length map of the Earth, of course.

Over in the kitchen, we get our first (and only) major pop of color!

Blue, like the sea, covers all of the cabinetry. There’s seating at a bar… and I’m not entirely sure what else there is here… ā€˜cause, again, not much is pictured -which makes me confused as to how this home will sell.

Y'know what is pictured though? The tiny pull-out fridge and freezer.

I’m sorry, but you can’t tell me this place is ā€œthree storiesā€ but you couldn't put in a full-size refrigerator??? No thank you.

At least there’s even more tchotchkes everywhere!

No cooking in this house, but there are board games to keep you distracted from the hunger you’re feeling.

Antsy to see the luxurious bedrooms of this unique home?

Well, calm down. Because we’ve mainly been blessed with these built-in bunk beds. The bedding is on theme. The comfy red chairs fit the aesthetic. And I’m beginning to think that this home has primarily been an Airbnb for some time.

Though, it’s been around since the 1970s… So was there ever a ā€œyear-roundā€ family living in this place? There’s had to have been, given that there’s (allegedly) 3 bathrooms here. We have no evidence of them, but still…

In terms of actual, standalone beds… we can view the elaborate headboard of one and half of a hammock for the other. The hammock does feel tropical… but I hate that I need to even consider it a ā€œbedā€.

Elaborate ship settings are viewable in one more space:

Truth be told, I don’t know what the intended use for this room is… it’s multipurpose? It could be the Captain’s Office, a formal dining room, an overdressed playroom for kids, or even a backdrop for some cosplay photos. Whatever you want it to be, it can be.

Besides the wood, elegance, and confusion that ties this place together, there’s one more thing: a mermaid. In front of the giant map, a mermaid figurine rests. Then, outside, a mermaid dons the front of the ship. She’s gorgeous, but probably a siren -given how we were lured into this place and it turned out to just be ā€œmehā€.

Outside, you can walk the plank -I mean walk the dock to get a better view of the mountains around us. If you’d rather get a view away from the water, head up to the top of the ship…

I now understand the price point of this place. This view is breathtaking. But I am glad that there’s a cannon because, after seeing that place, I’d like to eject myself from it as soon as possible.

See y’all next month (next week) for more wacky homes šŸ˜šŸ“ā€ā˜ ļø
