Be an Old Woman. Live in a Shoe.

It just got new laces.

What’s up, friends?

Today’s Pennsylvania property cost $26,000 to build -over 70 years ago. In today’s world, it would have cost over $344,000.

And it’s eerily reminiscent of that nursery rhyme about the old woman who lives in a shoe…

Built in 1949, this only 1,500 sq. ft. home was created “ to be a guest house for local promotions by the owner of a local Shoe Store Chain”. And, well, I think it does its job flawlessly. It does look like a shoe.

While currently not on the market, this property can be rented on Airbnb! Cemented as a landmark, the property even has its own road -I’m not kidding:

The recent remodel provides a perfect blend of modern furnishings with historic touches. Let’s take a closer look!

Did you peek at the custom stained-glass windows from the outside of the home?

Here’s a close-up on a few of them. I love the uniqueness of shoes made of artisanal glass. Keep your eyes peeled for them throughout the home!

Inside the doors, you’re greeted with many patterns, designs, and textures. It’s not bleak, boring, or sterile. If anything, it truly feels lived-in -which is comforting when staying in a rental property.

Oh, and it’s even bigger: foosball, a kitchenette, a coffee bar, and even a faucet.

In the actual kitchen, another glass-shoe is framed by the cabinetry and appliances.

Right around the corner are more complimentary spaces, a dining table with a built-in booth and a vintage-looking refrigerator with a cute seating area. The push and pull of modern and vintage shines here:

This wallpaper feels like a warm hug in the nook of the curvature of the home.

Upstairs there’s a second living room. Yes, even in this 48 ft long home, there manages to be double indoor relaxation spaces.

I love the idea of basking in the sun of this cozy room, looking through the shoe-glass while wearing slippers -sorry, I mean shoes.

Here’s a quick look at the secondary bedrooms… one for kids, one for in-laws?

And now, the primary bedroom: not anything to write home about… but it for sure does its purpose.

I do believe that the bathroom is the perfect symbol for this home: a modern remodel with remnants of the historical value the home holds. While the pastel green and wallpaper have a harsh line dividing them, they compliment each other.

Although the interior isn’t so spacious, the outside tells another story. Firstly, a private hot tub ideal for unwinding after a long day of looking at the magnificent views.

Need more space to lay out? Well, there’s a fireplace, a picnic bench, and a whole yard at your disposal.

Plus, a miniature version of the house rests in the yard… perfect for your furry friends!

Luckily, this home is only for rent because I’m not sure I’d want to live in the middle of nowhere in a shoe. But I’d probably do it for a weekend. What about you?

Hope your new year was great! See you next week!
