Does it smell like onions?
Or does it just look like one?
What’s up, friends?
Today’s home has an exterior reminiscent of a polarizing vegetable: the multifaceted, multicolored, and layered onion. If you took a bushel of onions, then scaled them up to the size of a house… it would probably look like this.
And, while that may not seem like everyone’s cup of tea, the interior proves to be a dated -but charming- spectacle.

Located in Kalamazoo, MI, this single family residence has 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 5 acres, and over 6.3k sqft. of space -which is plenty for indoor and outdoor fun! Despite being built in 1977, this property will cost you $1.3 million… so let’s explore it for free, right now!

Step up the driveway for a better view at how bulbous the structures of this home are… it’s quite unique. And the vegetation around it doesn’t help the salad narrative for this place…

Given the whimsy injected into this place, I wanted to open this tour with a bang: two livings rooms.

Collectively, these spaces show the duality of this home. It’s evident that the owner has lived here for… a while and they have a taste for the eclectic. There’s a bit of calm neutrals, but there’s also big pops of color.
But, don’t worry, those walls (mostly) stay that pale onion white.

That aforementioned duality comes together in the kitchen: there’s shades of wood cabinetry, a curved island, and some tiny blue light fixtures.

Oh, that higher end of the island is actually a bar! Your dining table is close by and perfectly situated for entertaining.
And… if people are coming over… we’ll need a drink!

Setting the vibes juuust right for a nice beverage is this bold accent wall.

Climb up another set of stairs to the primary bedroom: it’s got space, a very old headboard/dresser, and a cool semicircle window. Nearby, the bathroom gives us a different theme: free-standing. There’s two detached mirrors, a standing sink, a standing tub, and a shower that stands in the middle of the room.

Over in another bulb of the “onions” is a secondary bedroom that -as they say in the theatre world- is “in the round”. For what this space is, given its encroaching ceiling and limited square footage, it works… but I don’t wanna sleep here.

Amenities at this residence are limited, but there is an office! Do the relics in said office look like they predate modern technology? Absolutely.

We’ve had enough inside time. Let’s make our way outside… and pass by the indoor (stone) frog habitat on our way:

Without heading into the forest, we can still get some shade! This is a dream deck for those of us who love the outdoors, but not dirt.

Want deck space? Got it. Want yard space? Got it. Want forest space? Got it.

Next, we can travel down our paved pathway towards the shade of the forest trees, then relax at this little creek. It’s so peaceful out here.

From overhead, we can take the craftsmanship it took to create this piece of architecture. Plus, with the giant trees around it, it’s a true showstopper!

As we get a better view of this entire lot… living in an onion doesn't sound half bad. Though, personally, I’d rather live in a banana. That sounds way more a-PEEL-ing.
