Fish-Shaped Pools are so 2026

New pool shape just dropped!

What’s up, friends?

Welcome to 2026! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season, and are prepared for another fabulous home today. As a new year has started, I’d like to contribute to the ongoing trend of making a list of what’s “In” and “Out” in 2026:

OUT:

  1. Boring interiors

  2. No trees in the backyard

  3. Sparsely-filled open concepts

IN:

  1. Fish-shaped pools (which you’ll see in today’s home 😉)

Built in 2016, this Southern Florida waterside estate has 12 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, 6 fireplaces, and a $22 million dollar price tag. Yeah, there’s a lot of large homes in the neighborhood, but just from the bold blue roof you can tell that this property has something unique to offer…

I bet you weren’t expecting this when you opened the door!

Boca Raton might be known for its old people, but, let it be known, this house is youthful with COLOR! If you’re overwhelmed I’d like to point out my first favorite details: hanging fish sculpture, mosaic fish floor, and the exquisite blue to yellow gradient.

Dining rooms are done decoratively here. One of them is being attacked by a ceiling dragon, while the other is sailing the seas like a Viking. I, for one, would rather eat my food on stable ground.

Having a coral blue be the main color of the kitchen naturally gives an antique vibe. But that homey feeling is still equipped with present-day appliances and furnishings. It’s the perfect space to make small meals feel grand.

With over 12k sq. footage in this home, the living room option are vast -where ever inch is something new:

For all the detailed decor inside this house, despite the fact a kid would love the “pretty colors,” I wouldn’t expect a kid to be in here. Yet, clearly, I’m wrong, given the equally detailed slide that spans the main staircase.

We’ve switched to a mammal theme in the primary bedroom: peacock.

Those deep blues pair nicely with the rainbow accents that the birds typically have. I can’t say that I love the layout of this room… and given that this is the only photo of the space… I don’t think the realtor was fond of it either.

Am I sure if peacocks and mermaids go together? No. Am I sure if these two photos are a part of the same bathroom? Also, no. But are they collectively a unique, yet fitting bathroom en-suite? Absolutely, yes.

Does anyone remember “Extreme Home Makeover,” where they’d horrendously decorate a child’s room based on a singular characteristic the child liked? Well, this is like that, but with horses. Don’t get me wrong, if I was a horse-loving child, I’d love the stained glass windows, bedspread, and slide -but that ceiling painting would terrify me. I don’t need the fear of a horse god watching me as I sleep.

Something that I do appreciate with the heavy artistry of this home is its commitment to individual theming. In your average house, the horse bedroom would lead to a horse bathroom -but not here! Instead, there’s sunflowers, sunset beaches, or sailing the bright seas.

I can only imagine the budget of these rooms, given the lack of a duplicate anything.

You could argue that the amenities of this home are the thousands of detailed art you can glance at -but, don’t worry! There’s a full sauna, a (decorated) bar, and plenty of colorful deck space to beat, or take in, the Florida heat.

Okay, I’ll finally show you that fish-shaped pool I mentioned in the title…

Nothing about this pool is subtle. When I said “fish” I didn’t mean abstractly -I meant fins, engraved gills, a fireplace eye, and a jacuzzi tail.

Around the pool, the interior’s maximalist, artsy decor is everywhere. The walls and planters are tiled with colors and prints, the patio ceilings are painted with a hint of greenery, where both plants and chairs hang from them.

After you’re done with the pool, take a skip around the yard, barbecue some grub, and head into… another pool?

Yup, there’s a smaller, private pool around the other side of the home. Because, of course there is!

If there’s one takeaway I want you to take from this house and apply to your 2026:

Don’t be afraid to be bold and creative! Without risk, there’s no reward. So try something new this year… maybe like a giraffe-shaped pool?
