Love the Earth? Sleep inside it.

A home that’s truly one with nature.

What’s up, friends?

With Earth Day coming up, I wanted to highlight a home that is one with the Earth -so much so that it is quite literally within the Earth itself.

Located in Connecticut, this 1985 home has 2.1k sq. ft. of livable space but over 11 acres of land. And, evidently, the home is also the land.

While secluded in a forest, this 3-bed, 2-bath home provides you the space to live freely and be one with nature.

Today, let’s do things backwards: we’ll start outdoors, then travel inside.

At this house, your backyard is above you. And besides the free-range grassy area, you have a pebble-filled patio space that connects to the surrounding forest via large rocks.

Plus, this flower canopy is perfect to entertain, relax, or just take in how beautiful our planet is.

Nearby, on top of the hill (that also is your home), a farm/shed sits for all of your storage (and basketball) needs.

It may be dated and wooden, but living in the woods means your only intruder worries are animals without lock-picking abilities.

Speaking of dated and wooden things, the living room has hints of dark wood to complement the earthy tiles and stone fireplace.

Off the living room, the dining room carries the same brown tones -and provides a planty sneak peek at my favorite park of the house (that I’ll highlight at the end!)

Although the home’s square footage isn’t high, it makes the most of the space it has. The kitchen holds a glass case, oven, microwave, and electric stovetop -all bound together with this gorgeous wooden cabinetry.

As we continue into the primary bedroom, the woodwork follows us in a pretty big way:

That wall is beautiful! While I would prefer the tile floor over the wood panels, this room is great at exaggerating its space. Heck, they even managed to fit an entire grand piano inside!

My only gripe with the shower is how awkward it was placed in this room. Like, why not just align it with the back wall?

Finally, we see a downside to living in the earth: a lack of windows. Yes, most of the home was built with the forestry view in mind and sight, but some back rooms don’t get the same privileges.

With one bedroom and the laundry room the sun seems nowhere to be seen.

Yet, with these additional secondary spaces, Vitamin D access is plentiful. I have a feeling the lack of a bedroom window is no longer up to code…

Back to the windowed rooms: an office and art studio are only heightened when they get a view of the beauty of nature.

Nowhere is that beauty more prevalent than this enclosed porch / greenhouse space. With sunlight wrapping around the home, you get to feel outdoors from the comfort of the indoors.

And whether you want to appreciate the planet from the grass, or from your living room, any effort counts.

Happy Earth Day!
