Unexpected Pink Getaway

It’s not where you’d think...

What’s up, friends?

Want to spend a February getaway in a spacious pink home, in a town with the word “Beverly,” and on the coast of a major body of water?

Well, today’s home isn’t in Beverly Hills, nor is it on an ocean, but everything else is true and glorious.

Located in Beverly Shores, Indiana, this 4-bed, 3.5-bath single-family home overlooks Lake Michigan from its most southern point. Built in 1933, its bubblegum pink exterior and layout give the impression of a “California Living” property, while nestled in the heart of the Midwest.

Stepping through the front door, you’re greeted with this grand living room: a fireplace, cozy couch corner, and the vaulted-ceiling-sized window as a centerpiece. Don’t let the indoor shrubbery and palm tree canvases fool you, though! We are still in Indiana.

As the local winter weather kills the outdoor greenery, the many windows of this home have put the sun to a better use: lighting the property. You’ll notice that -coupled with the shore-facing windows- there’s many interior windows to make sure the sunlight reaches every nook and cranny. Plus, if you ascend the prominent staircase, you can get an up-close look at the circular windows at the top of the wall.

If you haven’t noticed already, to compliment the pink of the home, silver accents are used all over the place. And although the kitchen is very standard, it fits right in so as not to distract from the true glory of the property. Though, I do love the silver bar stools and the addition of a walk-in pantry!

Similarly, the dining room’s light wood table set pops against the grey and pink. At the same time, it’s all fairly “meh”.

The “creme de la creme” of this property is absolutely the sunroom. With panoramic views, custom tile-work, and plenty of space to entertain, it’s a tranquil paradise!

In terms of other indoor amenities, this home is not bountiful in them. It does have a secondary living space with a jukebox and pinball machine, but the rest is just grey (literally and metaphorically). However, they do have more interior windows to peek into the sunroom.

I’ll admit it: the bedrooms in this home are nothing notable.

They serve their purpose and that’s about it. Some of them have corner windows, providing a ton of natural light and gorgeous views. Some of them have enough space for two beds. And one has a good amount of space, but a window that makes the room feel small.

While this tile is probably not from the 1930s, this beautiful aesthetic is. This bathroom is gorgeous! As the shades of green surround you, the silver accents, antique mirror, and glass shelving give a unique experience -and a perfect contrast to the overall pink of the home.

Head down a few exterior staircases to reach the beach. It’s a breathtaking backyard, in breath-freezing weather -which has made me notice the abundance of dead plants…

With the barren deck (assumedly due to winter weather) the colors of the surroundings pop -and that front yard is now looking a bit questionable.

Mystery solved: fake grass AND fake bushes.

Is the pink a facade to compensate for the location and cold seasons? Or maybe it’s a time capsule: reminding us of a simpler time when colors popped and a great view was all you needed to have a good time.

But a pink cocktail would be nice too. I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day!

If you had to live in a bold-colored home, which one are you picking?
